Elvio Baccarini (PhD in Philosophy) is a professor at the Department of Philosophy, University of Rijeka. His main research interests are ethics, political philosophy and philosophy of arts. As the project manager, he is responsible for supervising and coordinating the implementation of overall project. He also supervises, directs and coordinates the work of junior researchers in the research team, and evaluates their scientific performance within the project.

Predrag Šustar (PhD in Philosophy; MSc in Molecular Biology) is an associate professor at the Department of Philosophy, University of Rijeka. His main interests are general philosophy of science and philosophy of biology. As the project manager, he is responsible for supervising and coordinating the implementation of overall project. He also supervises, directs and coordinates the work of junior researchers in the research team, and evaluates their scientific performance within the project.

PROJECT COLLABORATORS
Martina Blečić is a PhD student and a junior researcher at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Rijeka. Her primary interest is the philosophy of language, more precisely the pragmatic theory of indirect speech acts which she applies to questions from other fields such as the theory of knowledge and ethics. The subject of her PhD thesis is the possibility of testimony, in the epistemological sense, and the possibility of lying with conversational implicatures. Her role on the project is to investigate the effects of communication in science, especially the role of indirect verbal communication on the example of physician-patient interaction.

Zdenka Brzović is a PhD student and a junior researcher at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rijeka. Her interests include philosophy of science, philosophy of biology and the questions regarding the social structure of science and its impacts on scientific research. In her PhD thesis she is investigating the philosophical issues regarding the classifications and categorizations in the biomedical sciences. In the project she will investigate how various social factors can influence scientific classifications and how this influence bears weight of the scientific status of proposed classifications.

Smilja Cukrov is a PhD student at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Rijeka. She has a degree in Philosophy and History (diploma thesis: Social Philosophy of Science: Competition and Scientific Progress). On this project she will try to map the field of Social Philosophy of Science and investigate the role of non-epistemic values in scientific research.

Daria Jadreškić has a degree in philosophy and history, and is currently a PhD student of philosophy and a junior researcher at the Department of Philosophy at the University of Rijeka. Her interests are practical rationality, virtue ethics and philosophy of medicine. In the course of the project she will focus on normative concepts in medicine and antireductionism in philosophy of science. She will also question criteria of evaluation and acceptance of research programmes in science.

Dijana Magđinski (B.A., M.A. in philosophy, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb) is a PhD student at the Department of Philosophy, Centre for Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb and a junior researcher at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University in Rijeka. Her main research interests are philosophy of biology and evolutionary theory (evolution of cooperation; units of selection; altruism; adaptationism), philosophy of science (social structure of science; scientific change; reductionism) and philosophy of mind and cognitive science (theory of mind; animal cognition). Within this project her research focuses on the evolutionary approach to philosophy of science with emphasis on the role of cooperation and competition and their relationship in the development of science.
